The Tonight Show!

On Thursday the 25th Dave, Josh and I went to the Tonight Show in Universal City. It was so much fun! As soon as I found out that Conan O'Brien was going to be the new host of the show I knew I had to try and get tickets for it. Aside from standing in line for 3 hours it was such a fun experience and I'm so happy that we had the chance to go.

Father's Day Weekend

On Friday the 19th, Dave's parents flew to San Diego to spend the weekend with us. After a few trips to Rite Aid on Saturday morning, we ended up spending the day exploring the ships at the Maritime Museum. Here are the pictures from Saturday.
Dave and I waiting in the car while Miles and Mary Lou were in Rite Aid.

By the way, Dave got an iPhone.

This is a picture I found online of the Midway. It is a HUGE ship!

Is it obvious that I forced Dave to pose with me in this picture?

I took this photo when I realized that they were dressed the same.
Dave's "Iceman" look. (We have too much fun.)

The Star of India.
Onboard the Star, looking out at the HMS Surprise and the Russian submarine.

Funny story behind this picture. This was taken on a mini-ship onboard the Star and while I was taking this picture a little boy came up to us and said, "Excuse me? This is for kids only.". It was so funny! He was so cute and polite about it.

Like I said, we have too much fun. This is the bathroom area. It is a wooden bench with a hole carved in it and a bucket underneath.

Shandie's Overdue Update

Dave has been keeping the blog updated lately and I really appreciate it because I have been pretty busy. Now, things are back to normal and I have some spare time to update everyone.
First of all, I just checked my grades and I got A's in both of my classes. I'm really excited about it!! (I think my grandparents used to give me $25 for every A when I was in high school. I wonder if that counts for college as well. Ha ha!) I registered for 2 online courses over the summer and will continue taking classes in Utah in the fall.
Speaking of Utah, we just returned home from a trip to celebrate my dad's 50th birthday. It was so much fun and he was a good sport with all of the jokes about his age. Not only did we visit with him we were also able to make quick visits with my mom and Cal and Dave's mom (Miles wasn't home at the time unfortunately). It is always nice to see friends and family but for some reason this trip was very therapeutic for me; I feel refreshed.

Ever since Mary Lou bought me the cupcake cookbook I love to make them for every occasion.

Bird watch!!!

The past couple of days we've noticed two birds frequently coming back to our hanging plant. It didn't take long to realize that they were building a nest inside the hanging plant. I guess we have been living in this concrete jungle too long because we now constantly watch the birds whenever they come "home." The male bird does funky dances and songs for the female bird. Also, the male has a stark red forehead and chest, probably for impressing the female bird. Anyways, we have enjoyed the chirping so far, but we'll see how we feel about the baby birds that are on the way.
