Pirate Party

Yesterday we drove to Fullerton to celebrate my nephew Shane's 3rd birthday. It was really hard for me to get a picture of him because he was really hyper and when I did get a picture he wouldn't smile for me.

Dave was trying to cut the tags off of Shane's new baseball mitt. Shane was getting really impatient.

Shane's birthday party had a pirate theme this year so Dave and I wore these really expensive pirate hats.
I couldn't get him to look or smile at me but he really looked so cute all dressed up.
When we got home we carved pumpkins.
Finally, here are the pumpkins. Mine is on the left and his is on the right. Happy Halloween!!

There's a lot of smoke in the city today. There was even a little bit of ash flying around when I went to work. I miss the blue sky!

More Fire Pictures

Well, it's all over the news; there are fires burning in southern California. Thanks to everyone who has called to make sure we are okay. The fires are about 40 miles away from where we are downtown.
Dave classes were cancelled today and yesterday because of the fire so he is antsy to get back to school. The Hard Rock Hotel has offered rooms to evacuees and we were able to serve them breakfast and lunch at the restaurant I work at free of charge. I thought that was really nice of them.
Anyway, here is a picture that Dave took last night after I went to bed. You can see the actual fire on the mountain in the distance.


These are a few pictures that I took this morning around 6:30 am (yes, I actually woke up at 6:30 AM!) when I was getting ready for work.

Fire Update

I just wanted to post a couple of pictures of the smoke cloud that we can see from our balcony. It has been all over the news today and last that I heard the fires in San Diego were only 10% contained.

Smoky Haze

Dave and I were sitting back watching a little TV when we looked out the window and noticed that all of San Diego is in a smoky haze. It turns out that there are a couple wildfires burning about 40 miles away in Protero and Witch Creek. Here are a couple of pictures that I took from our balcony.

Apartment

It isn't as much space as we once had but it is really cozy and honestly, nothing could beat living in downtown San Diego. Especially with school and now my work within walking distance.
